Which of Abu Hanifa’s companions were strong in Hadith?

Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Ahmad ibn Shu’ayb Al Nasaa’i said to us: Abu Hanifa is not strong in hadith, and he makes many mistakes and errors despite the small number of his narrations.

The weak among his companions are:

1. Yusuf ibn Khalid al-Samti – a liar
2. Al-Hasan ibn Ziyad al-Lu’lu’i – a wicked liar
3. Muhammad ibn al-Hasan – weak in hadith.

The reliable among his companions are:

1. Abu Yusuf al-Qadi – trustworthy
2. ‘Afiyah Abu Yazid – trustworthy
3. Raqar ibn Hudhayl – trustworthy
4. Al-Qasim ibn Ma’n – trustworthy
5. Asad ibn ‘Amr – there is no problem with him
6. Sa’id ibn Ishaq – trustworthy

So these are the reliable ones among his companions, and those are the weak ones among them.
